Sustainable Spots in Glasgow, Scotland [2023 Guide]
Looking for the best sustainable spots in Glasgow, Scotland? Here is the ultimate guide to all the best spots that are currently operating in Glasgow that I've found.
Glasgow, a vibrant city is becoming a hub for sustainable and eco-conscious shopping. If you’re looking to reduce your environmental footprint while still indulging in some retail therapy, you’re in the right place.
In this post we will explore the best sustainable shopping spots I’ve found in Glasgow as a student where you can find eco-friendly products and support local businesses which prioritise sustainability.
The Barras
The barras is an iconic part of Glasgow’s east end, known for its vibrant atmosphere and range of goods. It’s a heaven for vintage enthusiasts, be sure to explore the markets . It is a collection of local vendors and businesses all selling hidden gems for eco friendly surprises.
Most vendors at The Barra's will only take cash. Make sure you bring enough cash with you, ATMs are also available nearby.
Try negotiating between 25 - 50% off the ask price. The vendor will probably meet you in the middle
Avoid adding to the UK's single use plastic problem and bring your own tote bag to the market (also plenty of tote bags to be purchased there!)
Want to have access to the most selection and best deals at the markets? Try going early, around opening time. You'll have less crowds and the vendors will be more likely to cut you a deal
Refuweegee
Refuweegee is a heartwarming initiative that offers a sustainable approach to fashion. Cheaper than Depop, the store offers pre loved clothing and accessories that are affordable and eco friendly. What makes Refuweegee even more special is that it employs refugees, providing them with valuable work experience and support.

Strathclyde Unions Re:Store
Located on level 1 of the union building, located on rue corner of Richmond and Portland Street, directly across from the Graham Hills building.
They are a zero waste store offering grains, lentils and sweets where you bring your own tubs to fill and also offer branded Strathclyde clothing which is sourced directly from zero waste suppliers.

Zero Waste Market
Located in Dennistoun, this zero waste shop is stocked with a variety of everyday items. Use your own containers as you shop for loose vegetables, fruits and even refill your shower products or spices. This shop is a great place to visit if you're looking to limit your single use plastics and packaging.
